We have been approved by the IRS as a continuing education provider with the number ZUQTH, therefore all our CTEC-approved continuing education courses will also meet the new 15 hours IRS continuing education requirement.

Notice to all our students!

When you order the course please indicate in the "comments" section your CTEC ID # and also your PTIN if you want to get credit for the new 15 hours IRS contiuing education requirements. We, as approved education providers, are responsible for collecting the Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) and CTEC ID# of all students and upload that information on line through the IRS/CTEC continuing educations systems.

Basic and Intermediate Self-study Tax Course - 2012 Edition

This course costs $179.
This course delivers 60 hours of instruction and testing on Federal (45 hours) and California (15 hours) Tax Law and provides students with the Qualifying Education required to become registered as a California Tax Preparer. The successful completion of the course provides students with the minimum qualifications needed to apply to the State of California Department Of Consumer Affairs to be registered as a California Tax Preparer. If you pass the final open book exam with a score of 70% or better we will send you a Certificate of Completion and the CTEC will be notified. No prerequisite required.

CTEC / IRS Continuing Education Courses

 
Once you become a registered tax preparer in California you must complete 20 hours (10 hours Federal tax law, 2 hours Ethics, 5 hours State, 3 hours Federal updates) of continuing education and have it submitted to CTEC by October 31st in order to maintain your status. Beginning in 2012 all non-exempt tax preparers  must also complete the new 15 hours IRS continuing education requirements (10 hours Federal Tax law, 2 hours Ethics, 3 hours Federal tax law updates)
As we are an IRS approved continuing education provider our Federal and California self-study courses will satisfy the continuing education requirements to renew your California State license and the new IRS 15 hours continuing education requirements. The courses build on the basics, therefore prior tax preparation experience/knowledge is required.
Our continuing education courses are $49-59.
